Nick Bang

In just three years of teaching Nick Bang has established a remarkably successful studio of fifteen students, each of whom has shown amazing improvements. Each of his students has been able to achieve their goals in preparations for musicals, college auditions and tryouts for the highest level choirs at their respective schools. Mr. Bang decided early in his college years that he wanted to be a teacher and has discovered a natural aptitude for working with young students as they struggle with the changing voice from elementary years through middle school and into high school. Skilled at explaining and demonstrating "vocal technique" in easy to understand language, his easy going manner and supportive style quickly engage those who work with him.

Nick Bang is a 2012 graduate of Cal State University East Bay with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance. He has been singing and performing since age fifteen. His performance background includes numerous musicals, recitals and operas. He has been performing professionally with the Festival Opera in Walnut Creek, the Bay Area's third largest opera company, every summer since 2006. He has been teaching high school, middle school and elementary students for the past four years and is now in the process of enlarging his studio.

Bang assesses each student’s goals and works diligently to help them achieve important goals. Vocal health, beauty, ease of tone and musicality characterize the work of his students. In a studio so new, Mr. Bang has distinguished himself by mentoring his very first student who graduates this spring and heads to one of the nation's premier institutions of higher learning, the Tisch School of the Arts in New York City. Other students have rapidly advanced into their top high school choirs; others have received leading roles in multiple musical productions in both high school and community musical theater companies. After studying with Mr. Bang for only two years, a student just entering sixth grade was cast in the lead role of Frederic in the operetta, “Pirates of Penzance,” - extraordinary considering he was the youngest to audition. Mr. Bang is only twenty five years old yet seems to have the teaching skills of someone considerably older. His seemingly natural ability to train young people, from high school to elementary, reveals the astonishing potential in each voice.
